Introduction

Alzheimer Society Peterborough Kawartha Lakes Northumberland and Haliburton is a registered charitable non-profit organization seeking proposals from qualified audit firms to provide annual financial audit services.

The selected auditor will be expected to conduct audits in compliance with Canadian auditing standards and provide guidance to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and funding requirements.

Scope of Work

The auditor will be responsible for:

• Conducting an annual audit of the organizations financial statements in accordance with Canadian generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS).
• Preparing audited financial statements and presenting them to the Board of Directors.
• Review annual reconciliation report and provide auditors report to Ontario Health

Reviewing and providing assurance on compliance with requirements related to:

• Multiple levels of funding including Ministry allocations government grants and donor-contributed funds.
• Ministry reporting requirements and relevant funding agreements.
• Charitable reporting requirements including completion of the annual T3010 Registered Charity Information Return
• Providing recommendations on financial controls risk management and best practices for non-profit organizations

Qualifications

The successful firm must demonstrate:

• Proven experience auditing non-profit organizations of comparable size and complexity.
• Expertise with multi-level funding structures (Ministry dollars grants donor contributions).
• A strong understanding of Ministry reporting requirements and compliance with familiarity in the preparation and filing of T3010 forms for registered charities.
• Professional designation in good standing (CPA CA or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills and ability to present audit findings to management and the Board of Directors.

Proposal Requirements

Interested firms are requested to submit proposals including:

1. Company Overview - Background history and relevant non-profit experience.
2. Team Composition - Key staff who will be assigned their qualifications and experience.
3. Approach & Methodology - Outline of the proposed audit process timelines and engagement practices.
4. Relevant Experience - Description of similar engagements with non-profit organizations including references.
5. Fee Structure - Detailed pricing including audit fees and any additional services.
6. Value-Added Services - Any additional expertise or support your firm can provide to strengthen financial governance.

Timeline

• RFP Issued: October 3 2025
• Proposal Submission Deadline: October 24 2025
• Selection of Auditor: October 30 2025
• Audit Fieldwork Start: March 2026
• Final Report to Board: May (June) 2026

• Finalists may be asked to present their proposals and meet with the selection committee before a final decision is made.
