TITLE
Director of Development Houston
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Development Houstonleads philanthropic efforts to advance the strategic priorities of TWUs Houston campus. This role manages a portfolio of major annual and planned giving prospects; builds corporate and foundation partnerships; and develops donor engagement strategies that strengthen support for the campus. The Director works closely with university leadership faculty and Advancement colleagues to foster a culture of philanthropy and drive meaningful impact.
Work is performed independently under limited supervision and performance evaluation is based upon the results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Vice President for University Advancement and dotted line to the Houston campus president
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES -May include but not limited to the following:
Cultivates solicits and closes new and established leadership donors with the annual goal of 65-75 in-person or virtual meetings and a proven record of raising at least $250000 in outright gifts in year one. Achievement of reaching goals $1 million or more may result in opportunities for advancement.
Integrates stewardship and external activities with VP of Advancement including volunteer engagement alumni programming/events stewardship programs/events marketing public relations and other external functions.
Cultivates solicits closes and stewards new and established leadership donors.
Manages a dynamic pool of annual and major gift prospects for the Houston campus.
Provides strong leadership for fundraising professionals staff and volunteers.
Continues to build a robust annual giving program for the Houston campus.
Develops and submits proposals to corporations and foundations interested in supporting priority initiatives for the campus.
Supports the growth of the Houston campus prospects by annually identifying and referring to the Vice President of University Advancement and the Houston campus president current donors who have the capacity and inclination to support the College at a greater level through major gifts or planned gifts.
Stays continuously up to date on the divisions strategic vision and opportunities for philanthropic support.
Communicates philanthropic support priorities of the Houston campus to donors and prospective donors.
Attends and participates in Houston campus and University Advancement events and activities.
Utilizes university-wide data systems (Blackbauds Raisers Edge NXT) to ensure efficient and well-coordinated fundraising efforts.
Writes reports and creates actions on prospect activity for the Vice President of University Advancement and the Houston campus president.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Performs other duties as requested.
Attends weekend and evening activities as necessary.
Demonstrated skill in a university advancement setting and/or fundraising experience for a College of Business is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills oral and written communication skills are required.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and steward relationships benefiting a the university.
Ability to develop and implement effective and efficient donor stewardship practices.
Ability to analyze data monitor budgets and develop successful plans is necessary.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines.
Excellent technology skills specifically with MS Office suite of products CRM tools and databases such as Blackbauds Raisers Edge.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in a related field is required. Masters degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Five years of successful progressively responsible experience in higher education or comparable non-profit work experience in an academic/higher education setting preferred.
REQUIREMENT
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regularly scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. Must be willing to travel and work weekends/evenings as necessary.
