Job Summary

The Van Driver will drive a 15-passenger van transporting clients making deliveries and coordinating the maintenance of the agency vehicle.

SCOPE OF DUTIES

  1. Operate agency vehicle(s) in accordance with the NJ State Regulations and Laws.
  2. Coordinate the daily van schedule with appropriate program staff.
  3. Pick up furniture/donations deliver mail to and from facilities as well as Administration Office pick up/deliveries may include the removal of the seats from the Van for use in delivering and picking up furniture/donations.
  4. Transport/escort clients to appointments as needed.
  5. Monitor clients behavior while in the van. Report problems to appropriate staff.
  6. Maintain safe and clean operating environment in the van.
  7. Ensure that appropriate safety restraints are worn at all times by driver of the van and all passengers.
  8. Ensure all routine maintenance and inspections are complete.
  9. Maintain records of mileage passengers and trips. Report to supervisor as required.
  10. Have van washed and waxed on a routine basis.
  11. Satisfactory completion of agency Defensive Driving Training within the first three months of date of hire.
  12. Interact (verbally and non-verbally) with clients staff and community members professionallywith respect and courtesy.
  13. Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  14. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings supervisory conferences and training sessions.
  15. Other duties as assigned

CREDENTIALS/ABILITIES:
The employee in this position requires High School Diploma or GED a valid drivers license with a good driving record/history and able to meet agency driver standards. Good interpersonal skills.
