Wits Solutions is looking for a Law Clerk to join our team supporting our government customer support requirements.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity with legal and court documents.
- Demonstrated competency in common software programs such as the Microsoft Suite Westlaw Lexis-Nexis Relativity Concordance Summation and search engines and legal and research databases.
- Electronically requests reports from the USMS and then collects information from those reports to populate data into OGC databases.
- Processes Touhy requests and tort claims into the shared network.
- Redacts privileged confidential and law enforcement sensitive information within a document.
- Conducts legal research and writing prepares responses to discovery and requests for information drafts legal documents such as a litigation hold memoranda privilege logs claims analysis requests for representation scope certifications litigation reports motions briefs memoranda of law etc. reviews documents for relevancy and any applicable privileges; and assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
- Conducts document review including in Relativity or other software program and compiles and organizes relevant documents for use by attorneys in preparation for investigations discovery hearing trials and their evaluation of litigation.
- Provides the delivery of services under the direction and supervision of OGC attorneys in accordance with internal agency and court-ordered deadlines
Required Skills Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a law degree from an accredited institution and at least one year work experience to include internships.
- Must have familiarity with legal and court documents.
- Must be able to provide the delivery of services under the direction and supervision of OGC attorneys in accordance with internal agency and court-ordered deadlines.
- Pass pre-employment background investigation.
- Federal government background check to obtain a Public Trust Suitability Determination.
