Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Automation Strategist to lead our strategic automation initiatives while taking a hands-on approach in developing and implementing cloud automation solutions.
This role will be crucial in driving the adoption of IaC and automation practices across our organization combining strategic leadership with practical technical expertise.
Youll be expected to stay at the forefront of cloud automation technologies actively participating in coding and implementation while guiding our overall automation strategy to enhance our operational efficiency and competitive edge.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute cloud automation strategies aligned with business goals
- Actively contribute to the design and implementation of IaC solutions
- Lead and participate in the development of automation scripts and tools
- Collaborate with our onboarding team to enforce service automation across new cloud services
- Manage automation artifacts and promote inner sourcing practices
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in automation initiatives
- Develop and deliver training programs on cloud automation and DevOps practices
What your need to succeed:
- Bachelors degree in computer science Engineering or related field
- 7 years of combined experience in software development cloud technologies and/or automation
- Proven track record of contributing to or leading projects involving infrastructure automation CI/CD pipelines or cloud-native application development
- Relevant certifications (AWS Terraform etc.)
- Experience in mentoring and training technical teams
Preferred skills:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Proficiency in IaC tools (e.g. Terraform CloudFormation Ansible)
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C# Python or Go
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker Kubernetes)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Expertise in cloud platform(s)

Requirement of the role:
- As a condition of the role the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life in advance of the start date
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete applicable background checks prior to the start date and during employment in accordance with Sun Lifes policies and practices.
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other addition to Base Pay eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
