Job Description

About the role

This is a full-time 6-month parental leave cover position based in Christchurch Central Canterbury. As the Kaiwhakapuawai you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing of tamariki and whānau within the community as part of the Te Puawaitanga ki Otautahi Trust.


What youll be doing

  • Providing comprehensive whānau-centered Tamariki Ora services to support the health development and wellbeing of tamariki and their whānau
  • Conducting home visits needs assessments and developing care plans to address the unique needs of each whānau.
  • Collaborating with other health and social service providers to coordinate holistic care and support for whānau.
  • Maintaining detailed client records and contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery.

What were looking for

  • Proven experience working with whānau in a community-based setting
  • Strong understanding of child development whānau dynamics and the challenges facing vulnerable populations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Commitment to cultural safety and competence in working with diverse communities
  • Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and/or Pacific languages is highly desirable
