Position Summary
Why this role matters:Youll be at the center of how Harness measures monetizes and delivers customer value designing systems that handle streaming data pipelines large-scale event ingestion real-time metering anddistributed entitlement logic across multiple work will directly shape the way customers experience Harness ensuring fairness precision and performance in a system thats as core to the platform as compute storage or security.
What youll do
- Lead a distributed team of engineers tobuild and operate large-scale low-latency servicescapable of processing millions of usage events daily.
- Architect and implement thecore event processing and data infrastructurebehind usage tracking metering billing and licensing across the Harness product suite.
- Partner with product and platform teams to define APIs data contracts and architecture that ensureseamless real-time customer visibilityinto usage and costs.
- Drive excellence inoperability reliability and performance building systems that can scale effortlessly and self-heal under load.
- Stay hands-on review code contribute to key architectural components and mentor engineers to push technical boundaries.
- Shape the technical roadmap and long-term strategy for how Harness manages value exchange at platform scale.
- Leadership depth: 3 years leading high-performing backend or platform engineering teams.
- Technical mastery: 5 years building SaaS platforms in Java or Go with hands-on experience designing distributed systems and data-intensive pipelines.
- Scalability mindset: Strong experience in event-driven or streaming architectures (Kafka Kinesis etc.) and low-latency high-throughput systems.
- Customer impact focus: A track record of building systems that deliver clarity reliability and trust to enterprise customers.
- Operational excellence: Skilled in managing on-call rotations incident response and continuous improvement of production systems.
- Collaborative DNA: Comfortable working across global teams product boundaries and complex technical domains.
- Youll owna core platform that every Harness product depends on shaping business models enabling innovation and driving transparency for customers.
