Principle Accountability
Working from within the CAMFED International team in the UK and in close collaboration with colleagues across the consortium the Development Manager will play a key role in stewarding major and strategic funding partnerships and raising new funds in support of CAMFEDs global development strategy as well as supporting others in the Development team to do so.

The Development Team is looking for two Development Managers to join a fast-paced goal-oriented global development team at CAMFED International working in coordination to deliver on an ambitious fundraising strategy and deploying a world-class approach to partnership management. Specific Accountabilities
Content development to support donor partnerships
- Lead the preparation of high-quality donor reports progress updates and other relevant communications to support CAMFEDs relationship with funding partners in particular high value and/or strategic partnerships. This could include coordinating input from colleagues internationally/across functions and drafting report documentation as appropriate particularly narrative reports as well as responses to donor queries.
- Lead or support the preparation of proposals to funding partners in particular high value and/or strategic partners. This could include drafting proposal sections and other documentation and coordinating input from colleagues internationally/across functions.
- Quality assure the output of other team members as agreed through review of key reports and other donor communications with a particular eye to accuracy and clarity.
Alignment of implementation to donor expectations and requirements
- Lead the regular review of managed grants in particular high value and/or strategic partnerships providing technical advice and support to colleagues in CAMFEDs Africa offices to ensure that donor intentions expectations and requirements are reflected in implementation and supporting the optimal use of funds to maximise the value of the investment. This could include reviewing financial and programmatic information to support work planning and check that progress and budget management is on track.
- Triage and troubleshoot alignment-related issues and queries with other team members as agreed including through alignment oversight responsibility for a portfolio of funding partnerships.
Manage and develop colleagues in the Development team
- Mentor and coach colleagues within the wider team and build their capacity in their roles including through line management responsibilities.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of team members as required.
- Promote ways of working that support motivation leadership resilience and psychological safety at work across the Development team.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience in a relevant role in the International Development sector including experience of independently managing complex grants to support alignment of implementation with donor intent
- Skilled communicator with a particular ability to write clear and impact-focussed narratives for a range of donor audiences
- Comfort with analysis and interpretation of data including through financial and impact documents and close attention to detail
- Collaborative project manager able to draw people together around complex multi-component projects and make things happen holding the bigger picture in view
- Organised and responsive with a proven ability to proactively progress multiple workstreams prioritise tasks independently and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Leadership skills including an ability to take initiative make decisions independently and take a pragmatic approach to problem solving
- Reflective with a commitment to learning and professional development
- Commitment to and passion for CAMFEDs values mission and vision as well as education social justice and gender equity
Desirable:
- Experience of developing and mentoring others with empathy and with a focus on promoting wellbeing
