United Surgical Partners International (USPI) the country s largest Ambulatory Surgery Center platform is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer for Fresno Surgical Hospital in Fresno CA.

Fresno Surgical Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission. Our technology allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of: Breast Surgery Colon & Rectal General Surgery Gynecology Orthopedic Surgery Ophthalmology Otolaryngology Pain Management Plastic Surgery Podiatry Spine Urology. There are 13 Operating Rooms and 5 Treatment Rooms.

The ideal candidate for this role will either have Surgical Hospital or other Hospital Leadership experience.

Job Summary

  • Actively involved at the executive level in the leadership of the organization. Organizes and administers areas of Patient Care Services to attain the hospitals objectives established by the Governing Body. The CNO has responsibility for the management of all nursing standards of practice at FSH and therefore responsible for establishing standards of nursing practice nursing policies and procedures and nursing standards of patient care.

Leadership

  • Creates environment that guides employees to accomplish unit and individual goals
  • Responds positively to changes to maximize opportunities or minimize problems

People Management

  • Defines and communicates standards of performance; and provides regular informal feedback
  • Develops and maintains department staffing model; hires and onboards new employees
  • Completes employees introductory and annual evaluations by due date
  • Fosters internal employee communication by ensuring that staff meetings are conducted on a regular basis
  • Addresses employee performance issues in a timely and consistent manner

Performance Improvement and Quality of Service

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement
  • Develops and tracks key outcomes to measure performance
  • Assure regulatory compliance with Joint Commission federal and state regulatory agencies

Financial Management

  • Maintain department budget for capital expenses and revenues
  • Monitors and explains variances
  • Identifies and implements ways to decrease costs and improve productivity

Other Essential Functions

  • Assures that nursing leaders review monthly performance improvement compliance with established indicators and sees that corrective actions are taken when negative outcomes are identified.
  • Collaborates with hospital leaders in developing implementing reviewing revising and monitoring hospital wide performance improvement activities.
  • Develops and implements nursing staffing plans for the organization.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to personnel and encourages interactive department meetings and discussions.
  • Exercises final authority over those associated with providing nursing care treatment and services.
  • Oversight of regulatory surveys and accreditation to include Joint Commission CMS CDPH. Ensures the facility is in perpetual compliance with Title 22 Joint Commission regulations and standards of practice and providing ongoing feedback to FSH leadership and medical staff.
  • Participates in the Executive Finance Governing Body and medical staff departmental meetings.
  • Participates with leaders from the governing body management medical staff and clinical areas in planning promoting a conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Participates with the governing body management medical staff and clinical leaders in the organizations decision-making structures and processes including strategic planning processes.
  • Provides administrative oversight to all service areas that are assigned by the CEO.
  • Reviews quality related data and makes recommendations based upon outcomes for nursing care in an effort to continuous strive for improvement which is in line with the philosophy of FSH.
  • Serves as the FSH Chief Executive Officer when she/he is away from the facility for any extended period of time.
  • The results of each departments performance improvement activities are reported to the respective medical staff committees a to the hospital wide performance improvement committee.
  • Works collaboratively with FSH nursing leadership to develop and implement the organizations plans for implementing and maintaining nursing standards of practice and care at FSH.
  • Works collaboratively with FSH nursing leadership to develop organization wide patient care programs policies and procedures that describe how FSC patient care needs are met through nursing care that includes assessment evaluation education nursing diagnosis and care planning.
  • Works directly with medical staff and other professional clinical staff on resolving patient care or operational issues to facilitate patient care.
  • Works with assigned department managers to develop and maintain a workable budget for each area that is cost effective.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:

Salary Range: $150K - $210K

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education with a plan to obtain a high level of degree.
  • Current California Registered Nursing License.
  • Master s degree in healthcare management or nursing preferred.
  • ACLS Certificate preferred
  • BLS Certificate
  • Minimum five (5) years of prior experience in patient care service
  • Three years of quality management experience preferred
