Job Summary

We are hiring a Registered Nurse II for one of our clients in Sea Girt NJ.

Job Description:

  • Provide nursing care and health assessments to cadets
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Monitor and manage communicable disease prevention
  • Coordinate care with physicians hospitals and guardians
  • Educate cadets on basic health hygiene and wellness
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare policies and regulations
  • Support a safe structured residential environment
  • Assess monitor and document cadet health status
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with orders
  • Provide immediate care during illness or injury
  • Maintain confidential and accurate medical records
  • Monitor infection control and health screening requirements
  • Communicate with healthcare providers staff and guardians
  • Ensure compliance with medical policies and regulations
  • Promote health safety and wellness within the program

Knowledge

  • A successful NJYCA RN should understand:
  • Clinical Knowledge
  • Nursing processes: assessment planning implementation evaluation
  • Common adolescent medical issues (asthma allergies communicable diseases)
  • Medication administration laws and safety
  • Especially scheduled medications and controlled substances
  • Infection control principles
  • Emergency care triage and stabilization
  • Youth/Program-Specific Knowledge
  • Adolescent developmental stages and behaviors
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Behavioral health awareness
  • Substance misuse basics
  • Documentation standards for residential programs

Skills required:

  • Clinical Skills
  • Vital signs wound care injections medication administration
  • Basic emergency response and stabilization
  • Patient assessment and documentation
  • Professional & Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong communication with teens families staff and external providers
  • De-escalation & conflict management
  • Team collaboration with medical and non-medical staff
  • Ability to adapt to high-stress/residential environments
  • Cultural competency (serving diverse youth populations)
  • Administrative Skills
  • Accurate medical record-keeping (electronic or paper)
  • Tracking immunizations medications health screenings
  • Reporting incidents and follow-up care plans

Experience Required:

  • Typical Minimum 1 2 years as a licensed RN (general nursing experience)
  • Highly Relevant Experience
  • Adolescent/Youth health settings
  • Schools clinics residential programs
  • Public/Community health nursing
  • Mental health or psychiatric nursing
  • Emergency/urgent care
  • Experience with behavioral health crises
  • Work in structured or quasi-military environments (helpful but not required)

Mandatory Certifications (RN)

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License State of New Jersey
  • Issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing; must be current and in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent approved provider
  • CPR Certification
  • Healthcare Provider level (often included with BLS)
  • First Aid Certification
  • Healthcare or professional rescuer level
  • Current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
  • Must be in good standing with the New Jersey Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association or equivalent)

Strongly Preferred / Often Required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (especially for adolescent care)
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor certification (helpful if teaching health classes)

Work hours:

  • One RN 2 for 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Friday and Saturday.
  • One RN 2 for Sunday-Thursday 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
  • lunch period (Unpaid): 30 minutes
