About the College:
The College of Health and Human Development is comprised of the departments of Child and Adolescent Development Communication Disorders and Sciences Family and Consumer Sciences Environmental and Occupational Health Health Sciences Kinesiology Nursing Physical Therapy and Recreation and Tourism Management. The College has 121 full time faculty members and enrolls over 6100 undergraduate and graduate students. The departments offer Bachelors Masters and Doctoraldegree programs in a wide variety of health-related and other professional fields. Departmentswithin the College offer online courses and one fully online graduate degree. The College hostsseveral Centers such as the Institute for Community Health and Wellbeing the Center of Achievementthrough Adapted Physical Activity and the Marilyn Magaram Center for Food Science Nutrition andDietetics. the Position:
The Associate Dean assists the Dean in carrying out the mission of the College and serves asAdministrator in Charge during the Deans absence. Duties and responsibilities include:
Assists Dean with strategic planning and decision-making for the College as well as assistingin the management of the Colleges budgetary allocation;
Provides a coherent vision management strategies and leadership in coordinating thedevelopment of curriculum in the College of Health and Human Development;
Assists departments within the College in developing curriculum proposals and when appropriatesuggests new programs or courses or modifications of existing courses and programs;
Keeps departments informed regarding all curricular policies including calendars anddeadlines;
Supervises the final preparation of approved curriculum and ensures its proper and timelyuniversity-wide circulation;
Represents the College in overseeing the movement of its curriculum through the EducationalPolicies Committee and the Graduate Studies Committee;
Coordinates the activity of departmental and program representatives in appearing before thesecommittees;
Works with Chairs on oversight of schedule build to meet instructional and college goals andrequirements;
Keeps departments informed on the schedule for program reviews and serves as a resource personin the preparation of the self-study;
Assists departments in presenting their self-study to the Academic Council;
Meets with the outside evaluators takes part in the final discussions and assists departmentsand programs in implementing the plans agreed upon and contained in the final memo ofunderstanding;
Participates in monthly meetings with the College Chairs and Program Directors;
When requested writes drafts of reports and other documents on behalf of the College theChairs and Dean;
Acts on petitions and requests for changes of program in accordance with College and Universitypolicies on behalf of majors from the College and from students in College courses and advises andconsults with Chairs Program Directors and faculty in making these decisions as appropriate;
Collaborates with College Director of Advising to coordinate advising activities within theCollege;
Meets with students concerning academic or disciplinary problems and advises students on theirrights and options when they encounter difficulties with Chairs or faculty within the College;
Consults within the College concerning academic or disciplinary student problems asappropriate;
Coordinates assessment programs in the College;
Works with the Colleges Assessment Committee to review self-reports and the development of theColleges Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs);
When requested represents the Dean of the College at meetings or functions both on and offcampus;
Assists the Dean with College development activities;
Contributes to college celebratory occasions including commencement and awardceremonies;
Makes independent recommendations to the dean on all college matters;
As a leader demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission-aligned with theuniversitys visionvalues and priorities;
As an academic administrator demonstrates a commitment to and ability to implement CSUNsLeadershipPrinciples:
Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from an accredited academic institution;
Graduate or terminal degree in one of the disciplines offered in the college;
Demonstrated record in university-level teaching;
Demonstrated record of scholarly creative and/or professional accomplishments;
At least three years of successful academic administrative experience at or above the level of aDepartment Chair or its equivalent;
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and committees with a collaborative leadershipstyle;
Demonstrated ability in student advisement and mentoring;
Highly organized with evidence of ability to prioritize workload demands including meetingdeadlines and managing several projects at one time;
Demonstrated excellent communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and identify and solveorganizational problems;
Demonstrated record of achievement in working with a diverse community of students facultystaff and administrators;
Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership in responding to the diversity andinternational character of the University and the College;
Effective resource management skills (budget personnel facilities).

Preferred Qualifications:
Successful experience with accreditation procedures and processes;
Demonstrated ability to analyze plan and implement relevant and visionary programs andexperiences for the College;
Experience with high-impact practices for student success and retention;
Demonstrated experience in academic administration or faculty governance;
Experience and ability to function in a collective bargaining environment;

Organizational management experience in an accredited institution of higher learning similar toCSUN. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a College that values justice equitydiversity & inclusion student-centered learning and interdisciplinary collaboration;
Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity equity and inclusion in the College;
Experience leading organizational change in a dynamic and diverse environment;
Demonstrated commitment to employee development recognition and accountability to furtheroperational goals.

Pay Benefits & Work Schedule:
Salary is commensurate with knowledge skills and experience. The University offers excellent
fringe benefits. The anticipated hiring range: $165000- $ 182000 per year.
