The exciting role of Pet Retail Omni-channel Business Account Manager (BAM) is responsible for driving accelerated growth of the Hills Science Diet brand focused on growing the Pet Specialty omni-channel. This individual will be managing the head office relationship with key Pet Specialty chain customers that operate both brick and mortar operations as well as ecommerce websites.

The BAMs focus is building profitable net sales market share share of shelf (digital and store) and distribution in the customers they are responsible for. The BAM will be responsible for managing all aspects of the omni channel business and relationship with key large format multi-store national retailers supporting both in-store and online execution. The BAM will drive partnership and execution through cross-functional execution including supply chain planning/management marketing collaboration and financial analysis.

The BAM will also stay abreast of the market and competitive climate to ensure appropriate actions take place to drive the business within their channel.

What You Will Do:

70% - Implement and execute strategies and tactics within their customers to deliver profitable growth in the Pet Retail omni-channel:

  • Liaise with retail customer contacts and manage relationships.
  • Work within gross-to-net and advertising and promotional budgets.
  • Execute 6P tactics to drive brand share growth in-store.
  • Create drive and manage plans programs and events with key customers.
  • Monitor through financial post-analysis.
  • Ensure execution at field level through communication .
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing Finance Professional Veterinary Affairs and CS&L.
  • Drive eCommerce sales within the omni-channel.
  • Develop and execute customer specific plans to achieve Hills commercial goals.
  • Leverage national programs to drive Hills Science Diet BRMO (Brand Recommended Most Often) and market share with Pet Specialty Retail.



30% - Retail environment strategy development and execution

  • Develop and execute annual strategic plans and initiatives to achieve the commercial goals.
  • Engage customers on category growth expectations. Present strategic plans at key business reviews and annual budget review meetings.
  • Customize national programs partnering with Hills cross functional teams leveraging brand strategies to drive growth.
  • Execute sales plans and resolve issues through both the customer and internal commercial teams including customer home office.
  • Build and maintain a Business Planner to reflect baseline sales and promotion plans.
  • Manage customer payments.
  • Develop category and brand solutions for each customer that will drive the Hills business.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5 years of sales experience with experience with eCommerce preferred
  • 5 years key account management calling on the head offices of strategic customers
  • Field sales experience



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong commercial experience developing and executing strategic customer joint business plans at a head office level
  • Strong understanding of best in class ecommerce activation and levers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent business presentation skills
  • Strong influence and negotiations skills to drive win-win solutions with persistence and respect
  • Adept at finding common ground identifying vital interests and understanding the customers underlying priorities
  • Strong computer skills in Google Suite Excel PowerPoint Tableau and Word
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze and develop actionable insights and recommendations that result in profitable volume consumption growth
  • Manages ambiguity and strategizes solutions for the customers business and quickly develops alternative plans as needed with minimal supervision.
  • A self-starter who works effectively across functions channels and categories to align priorities solve problems optimize resources and drive effective execution
