About the Role
You are an experienced Community Mental Health Clinician who brings experience in providing consumer focused care from an intensive outreach model. As a Mental Health Clinician you will:

  • Implement the Strengths Model to empower individuals in their recovery journey emphasising their capabilities and resilience.
  • Foster strong therapeutic alliances with consumers and actively involve them along with their family/carers/supporters in comprehensive care planning and evaluation processes.
  • Conduct thorough assessments deliver targeted interventions and provide treatment for individuals with intricate mental health needs aligning practices with local policies and strategic directions.
  • Contribute significantly to primary secondary and tertiary consultation services actively engaging in community development education and establishing effective liaisons with other supportive agencies.
  • Ensure strict compliance with activity-based funding requirements diligently recording daily contacts phase of care outcome measures and any provided diagnoses

Classifications for this position will range from

  • RPN Grade 3 NP81 - NP74 ($100932 - $112091 per annum pro rata)
  • OT/SW Grade 2 YB20 - YB23 or YC42 - YC45 ($88030 - $101197 per annum pro rata)


Your Contribution

  • A minimum of at least 2 years postgraduate clinical experience within Mental Health
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (RPN & OT)
  • RPNs - Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Completion of undergraduate Degree in Occupational Therapy OR Masters of Clinical Practice in Occupational Therapy. Social Workers - An approved degree in Social Work (by the AASW) and eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. International Social Workers will need to be able to provide evidence of their assessment of international qualifications from the AASW (inclusive of the reference number).
  • A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or willing to obtain

Under the guidance and support of the Multidisciplinary Team you will deliver exceptional clinical treatment and support to individuals with serious mental illnesses. Managing a caseload your role extends beyond clinical responsibilities to actively cultivate and sustain collaborative partnerships with various internal and external service providers.

The Mobile Support and Treatment Service operates seven days a week with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays offering intensive home and community-based recovery-oriented services. Targeting individuals with complex mental health needs the multidisciplinary team employs the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice focusing on holistic and community-centred support.

Similarly the Continuing Care Team provides specialised treatment and ongoing support throughout the week during business hours. Employing the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice the multidisciplinary team delivers tailored clinical and therapeutic interventions to meet the specific needs of individuals with serious mental illnesses.

St. Vincents Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. The Adult Mental Health service components are: The Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU) a 44 bed Acute Inpatient Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincents Hospital Fitzroy Campus the North Fitzroy PARC and two community mental health services (CMHS) at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon CMHS) consisting of Continuing Care (CCT) Mobile Support and Treatment Service (MSTS) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services Psychiatric Triage and Crisis Assessment and Treatment (CAT) service Police Ambulance and Clinical Response (PACER) ED Mental Health Extended Triage and The Primary Intervention Care Team (PICT) Hospital Outreach Post Suicide Engagement (HOPE) Supporting Tenants at Yarra Housing Project (STAY).

A Consultation & Liaison Service is provided to the general health service. NEXUS Dual Diagnosis Service the Body Image and Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Service (BETRS) are regional services. State-wide services include the Victorian Dual Disability Service and the Victorian Transcultural Mental Health. The Acute Inpatient Service includes 5 beds designated as the Koori State-wide Inpatient Service and linked to and supported by the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.
