Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets

Job Purpose

The Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of financial information. This role manages the accounting and reporting of fixed and intangible assets capital leases and assigned cost centers while delivering financial analysis to support effective business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Fixed Assets and Capital Leases

  • Record and track fixed asset additions disposals impairments and related depreciation and amortization using ERP fixed asset modules.
  • Maintain accurate accounting for intangible assets including impairments and amortization.
  • Prepare and reconcile capital expenditure budgets forecasts and actuals.
  • Perform monthly fixed and intangible asset reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
  • Partner with Treasury Operations Financial Analysis and Finance Management to ensure accurate asset tracking.
  • Manage capital leases and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Review and analyze monthly P&L activity for assigned cost centers.
  • Identify and explain budget-to-actual variances providing meaningful analysis for stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports journals and support schedules.
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
  • Support planning and budgeting cycles with timely reporting and variance analysis.

Audit and Compliance

  • Support external and internal audits by preparing reconciliations schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely completion of all audit and compliance requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to other departments to support decision-making.
  • Educate non-finance teams on the purpose and use of financial data.
  • Promote internal controls and escalate non-compliance issues when identified.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience including at least 2 years specializing in fixed assets.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting practices and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with fixed asset accounting software (Sage or similar preferred).
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in Excel Word and Google Suite.
