Summary
The Senior Payroll Specialist is a senior-level contributor within the Poland-based payroll service team responsible for executing and overseeing complex payroll operations for Swiss industrial entities. This role demands deep expertise in Swiss payroll legislation social insurance and tax systems as well as fluency in German and French to ensure seamless communication with Swiss authorities and stakeholders including managers and employees in the Swiss manufacturing sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end payroll processing for Swiss-based employees using SAP PY and Workday integrations.
Ensure compliance with Swiss labor laws social insurance (AVS BVG) and cantonal tax regulations.
Act as a subject matter expert for payroll audits internal controls and process improvements.
Act as the primary liaison with Swiss authorities and external service providers.
Liaise with Swiss HR and Finance teams to resolve escalations and ensure data accuracy.
Mentor junior payroll staff and support knowledge transfer from Switzerland to Poland.
Coordinate with external auditors and provide documentation for interim and year-end audits.
Assist in the transition of payroll activities from Switzerland to Poland including system setup and testing
Handling and execution of employee stock programs including related taxation and payroll accounting.
Payroll accounting and related account reconciliations in collaboration with our finance team.
Independent management of illness and accident cases including full processing of medical certificates.
Job Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements
Formal Swiss payroll education (e.g. Lohnfachfrau/-mann certificate) or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4 years of payroll experience with at least 2 years in Swiss payroll operations.
Advanced proficiency in SAP PY Workday and Swiss payroll reporting tools.
Advanced knowledge in payroll accounting and reconciliation as well as handling and taxation of employee stock programs
Strong command of German; French and/or Italian is a plus.
Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.
Hands-on mentality with strong solution orientation.
