Position Summary
The Business Support Specialist serves as a key contributor to operational excellence by delivering technical support and offering expertise in internal business systems. The Specialist acts as a vital link between front-line issue resolution and comprehensive system analysis ensuring optimal system performance aligned with evolving business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver timely and effective technical support to system users by diagnosing and resolving navigation and workflow-related issues within the Guidewire platformincluding Producer Engage PolicyCenter Claims Center and Billing Centerensuring seamless user experience and operational efficiency.
- Provide clear guidance to external and internal users on system navigation features and functionality to enhance user adoption and satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot and resolve external and internal user errors while supporting accurate and timely data entry requirements.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource on organizational business rules across all Centers offering valuable insights and supporting the identification and reporting of issues while remaining independent from the resolution process.
- Analyze system design to assess alignment with business requirements and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Evaluate system performance by comparing technical specifications to actual output during the identification of discrepancies from reported issues.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of system configuration and functionality to support ongoing enhancements and issue resolution.
- Monitor the issue resolution process by effectively coordinating with multiple resources until the issue is fully resolved. Ensure clear and timely communication of resolution updates to all relevant stakeholders.
- Uphold customer confidence by ensuring the protection of both confidential and proprietary data.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends emerging technologies and regulations through ongoing professional development to ensure alignment with best practices and compliance standards.
- Conduct quality assurance testing on the system as capacity allows contributing to system reliability and performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Three or more years of experience in an information technology role with hands-on experience working with customer-facing digital portals databases and billing systems along with a solid understanding of organizational structures key roles and operational workflows
- Three or more years of experience in the insurance industry preferably in commercial insurance with a strong understanding of business processes
- Experience with the Guidewire platform including Policy Center Producer Engage and Billing Center with the capability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge through hands-on experience and structured training
- Knowledge of commercial insurance or financial services proprietary extranets
- Ability to provide high-quality professional customer service with a focus on responsiveness empathy and customer satisfaction
- Proficient in verbal and written communication for both technical and business interactions
- Ability to assess complex business needs and provide technical solutions
- Skill in problem solving analysis and critical thinking
- Skill in time management organizational and prioritization with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
- Skill in interpersonal interactions fostering effective collaboration and relationships across internal teams and external partners
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and function specific software applications
