Job Summary
A day in the life of a Business Insights Intern might include:
Leveraging statistical inferencing when conducting analysis and communicating significance in findings to business partners.
Completing tasks involving data science business reports and ad hoc analysis
Retrieving data from internal and external sources and data files in order to keep databases current and usable.
Demonstrating willingness to be engaged and try new things
Participating in department and company meetings
Presenting insightful recommendations presentations reports and documents to help with the use of data and information extracted.
Applying appropriate quantitative techniques and methods to help resolve business problems.
Performing other duties as assigned

About You
A successful Business Insights Intern at Nationwide has:
Education
Undergraduate studies in Computer Science Data Science Analytics Statistics Math Insurance Information Systems Business Management or a related field of study
Completion of sophomore or junior year is preferred
Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
3.0 GPA or higher is desired
Skills/Competencies
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external contacts
Proficient in working with Excel Tableau
Ability to code using SAS or SQL; experience with R or Python a plus
Natural curiosity and ability to ask probing questions
Knowledge of statistical analysis
Ability to excel in a dynamic changing and sometimes ambiguous environment
Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
Natural curiosity to explore and question
Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However it is not usually available for entry level roles.
