About Us:

About the Position:

TJFACT is seeking to hire an experienced IT Specialist to join our NNCO (National Nanotechnology Coordination Office) team and National Coordination Office of the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) program in the Washington DC area.

The Specialist shall provide experienced and highly qualified staff to manage all aspects of the IT security program and ensure compliance with government and IT security policies and procedures. The individual is expected to demonstrate the capability to review and investigate non-compliance issues; ensure all staff are trained and adhere to the policies outlined in the procedures manual; review track and monitor all security policies and procedures that are critical parts of this requirement; conduct inspections audits and investigations that result from any issues found; maintain and update system security plans on all platforms; identify potential threats and respond to reported security violations; and research recommend and implement changes to procedures to protect data from future threats.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shall provide experienced and highly qualified staff with the capability to work collaboratively to continue to upgrade the content and presentation of the various NSTC web sites including NITRD and and others if requested.
  • Perform as a technical expert in the design development coding testing and debugging of new website applications or complex enhancements to existing applications including the capacity to work with staff to understand and solve web application problems resolve customer complaints respond to suggestions for application modifications or enhancements participate in the development of application user manuals and define and oversee database environment creation standards controls procedures and documentation.
  • Provide knowledge and experience in information technology hardware and software necessary to provide infrastructure support of the office: support the mobile devices hardware and software required for the day-to-day operations including printers copiers meeting room audiovisual technology e-mail services file management systems listservs for internal Federal groups and external stakeholder networks.
  • Develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages work with users to evaluate and define hardware and software needs provide software and hardware familiarization as well as desktop and help desk support manage third-party maintenance and support contracts for networks software and hardware equipment and manage user accounts.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • S. Citizenship.
  • At least five (5) years experience in IT support with appropriate certificates or bachelors degree in appropriate field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaborative teams.
  • Expertise as appropriate IT resource development; hardware management setup administration and training; Web email cloud and internet services; content management system; backup and disaster recovery methods; centralized anti-spam and anti-virus software; and inventory and asset management.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government regulations for websites hardware and software to ensure compliance with these regulations.
