Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $29.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Office of State Controller. This position is located at 3514 Bush St Raleigh NC 27609.
The Office of the State Controller is seeking to fill two temporary HR Payroll Analyst I positions with the BEST Shared Services Payroll Team. There is potential for hybrid telework options depending on the candidates knowledge skills and experience.
The Payroll Team includes three functional groups: Operations Accounting and Reconciliation. These teams generate biweekly and monthly payrolls employee payments process employee garnishments/releases and federal tax withholding mandates reconcile payroll medical premium deductions and payments to the State Health Plan and reconcile State Retirement Plan deductions and payments. Additional duties include administering overpayment claims processing and repayments posting results to the financial systems processing third-party vendor payments managing escheats completing federal and multi-state tax reporting and ensuring proper financial reporting.
These two temporary Payroll Analyst positions will report to the State Payroll Manager and provide support to the Payroll Supervisors and teams including but not limited to: processing third party payroll amounts due to vendors via ACH transactions and paper checks processing payment reversals deletions and ACH returns researching and responding to vendor and agency inquiries regarding payments and payroll deductions maintaining related accounting records per standard procedures policies and retention schedules and other related duties as assigned.
These positions require a bachelor s degree in business administration human resources computer science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and at least one year of experience in business or HR/Payroll consultation process improvement or requirement gathering in an information technology payroll or HRIS environment; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management preferences include experience working with large volumes of payroll data produced frequently considerable knowledge of payroll tax and accounting principles and practices and demonstrated experience with SAP/the States integrated HR-Payroll system workflows and payroll and time policies and procedures.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies
