Job Title: ELECTRIFICATION LIAISON
(Temporary Environmental Programs Specialist 1)
Note Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 June 30).
THE POSITION
The City of Sunnyvale is seeking an individual for the position of Electrification Liaison. An energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent communication organizational and technical skills is needed. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge with climate action building and vehicle electrification and/or electric vehicle infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with the Citys Sustainability and Climate Action team identifying and executing tactics and strategies to connect the community and businesses to electrification resources and processes and reporting findings to the City. Ideally this position will work with a minimum of 5 properties to electrify their buildings or add charging infrastructure with the end goal of creating a report on challenges barriers and best practices for commercial property electrification. The work schedule for this position is flexible. The work schedule can range from 16 hours to a maximum of 25 hours per week. Position will work up to 900 hours per fiscal year (between July June). Some weekend and evening work is anticipated.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires prolonged sitting standing walking reaching twisting turning kneeling bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal customer service. The need to lift drag and push files paper books and documents weighing up to 25 pounds is also required. Some duties require incumbents to climb rungs attached to debris boxes open and sort bags of garbage and recycled materials during waste audits and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.
Education & Experience
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:
A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in environmental studies environmental science sustainability or a related field;
AND
One year of experience in environmental program development coordination and/or implementation or related field.

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid California class C drivers license or the ability to provide alternative transportation as approved by the appointing authority and a safe driving record.
