-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. managing engineering research projects (i.e. managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites must possess valid drivers license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required but not for the mandated registration.

District Environmental Coordinator
Leads D8 Environmental Engineering Team within the Planning Department including:
Official Position Description:
As District Scope of Services & Programming Engineer acts as staff specialist (i.e. develops engineering policies & plans projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have significant impact on major organizational programs; keeps abreast of new scientific methods & developments affecting Department & recommends changes in program emphasis; represents administrator in administration of contracts involving multiple complex projects programs & directives; develops &/or revises policies & directives based on field observation & testing); signs plans &/or other engineering documents as registered professional engineer. Schedules scope meetings with other offices in order to gather information to be used in formulation of project scope (e.g. obtain preliminary engineering data necessary for preparation of workable scope for estimating programming & design packages). Prepares or directs others in preparing programming packages for Ellis computer system. Acts as Ellis coordinator responsible for data entry into Ellis system. Oversees ranking systems (i.e. bridge & pavement) including management & analysis of data utilized by these systems. Develops long-term strategies for achieving normalization regarding both bridges & pavements. Provides support in managing & forecasting future requirements related to District allocation/work plan. Provides information to internal & external customers regarding current & historical bridge & pavement condition ratings. Operates state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites.
Manages District Environmental Section & coordinates project & meeting deadlines. Oversees work of personnel involved in preliminary engineering project scoping &/or preparation of programming packages. Coordinates work with local public agencies (LPAs) & metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs). Assists administrator in preparation & monitoring of District budget allocation. Evaluates programs policies & procedures. Provides administrator with technical advice to aid in decision-making. Evaluates policy changes & their impact on budget & traveling public. Re-scopes existing projects as needed due to policy changes. Cooperates with work plan coordinator in creating & assessing various funding scenarios. Independently generates & signs name to internal & external correspondence to consultants local governments & general public.
Coordinates revisions necessary to keep Ellis up-to-date. Represents administrator at meetings & conferences with state federal & local government agencies. Speaks for administrator regarding District work plan. Prepares or directs preparation of correspondence reports & policy statements. Utilizes personal computer (e.g. Microsoft Word Excel & PowerPoint) to prepare presentations & reports.
