Description
The Medical Intake Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the medical portion of the offender intake process at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP) in Jackson GA. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that all medical screenings documentation and assessments are completed efficiently and accurately serving as a liaison between intake nursing staff providers mental health and operations teams.

Location: Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison Jackson GA
Pay Rate: $22.00 $25.00 an hour
Schedule: MondayFriday (flexibility may be required based on intake volume and operational needs)

Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the high-volume daily medical intake flow (averaging 300350 intakes weekly) of incoming inmates ensuring timely completion of screenings TB testing and initial assessments.
- Monitor and track all required medical intake steps (e.g. 24-hour screenings 7-day assessments lab work IV/PICC line care wound management medication reconciliation etc.).
- Partner closely with nursing providers mental health and custody staff to maintain 24/7 intake operations and smooth progression through the intake process.
Oversee the accuracy and completeness of medical documentation including review and upload of records into the EHR (TechCare).
Identify high-priority or urgent medical cases in a critical-care environment and escalate them to appropriate clinical staff.
Manage intake tracking logs checklists and dashboards to ensure compliance with GDC requirements and Centurion standards.
Support the intake team with non-clinical duties such as preparing paperwork scheduling appointments tracking labs or diagnostics and data entry.
Train new staff on GDCPs unique intake workflow and serve as a resource for intake-related processes.
Participate in audits CQI initiatives and staff meetings related to intake performance or process improvement.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; experience in healthcare administration medical office technology public health or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a medical correctional or clinical operations environment required.
Prior experience in intake coordination patient scheduling medical records or EHR systems highly preferred.
Strong background in Emergency Room (ER) Trauma or Critical Care nursing strongly preferred given GDCPs scope and acuity.
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating electronic health records (EHR); TechCare experience is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks manage timelines and follow through independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams.
High attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and compliance.
Must be comfortable working in a large correctional facility with 24/7 operations and adhere to all safety and security protocols.
