Job Summary

Summary

This position is open to current King County employees and the general public

King County Metros Fare Media Sales (FMS) team is looking for an experienced Project Manager with demonstrated skill collaborating across multiple workgroups.

It is a time of transformation at Metro with multiple efforts happening across the agency to improve the overall customer experience. Many of these efforts impact the work of the Fare Media Sales group and competing priorities can cause strain on existing resources. The successful candidate will represent FMS in large scale agency projects providing insight into FMS capacity offering creative solutions and balancing agency demands on front line customer service addition to participating in large scale planning efforts this role will also be responsible for leading projects within Fare Media Sales workgroups. Collaborative planning and creative problem solving will be hallmarks of this position.

This recruitment will be used to fill one immediate career service addition this selection process may be used to create an eligibility list to fill future career service term-limited temporary and/or special duty assignments that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility list will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

This position will be hybrid with an expectation that work will be performed on-site at King Street Center at least three days per week.

Job Duties

  • Represent Fare Media Sales in division planning efforts that may span multiple workgroups agencies jurisdictions and community-based organizations
  • Lead projects within the Fare Media Sales workgroup
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders including Fare Media sales workgroups agency leadership external agency partners project leaders from other workgroups and Metros customers
  • Engage in program project product and process development activities
  • Educate and advise peers and partners about Fare Media Sales products and processes
  • Investigate and map cross-agency planning efforts and educate peers about upcoming changes and potential impacts
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to make informed recommendations
  • Produce and deliver presentations and reports for internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity and sustainability. Promote an equitable diverse and inclusive work environment and support diversity and inclusion goals.
  • Development of operations in accordance with Metros stated values
  • Perform duties as assigned

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of experience leading complex projects from planning to completion including managing scope timeline and resources
  • Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to clearly convey complex ideas and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risk including escalating issues to leadership when appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to generate buy-in and lead project teams comprised of members who report to different leaders
  • Willingness and ability to understand regional and King County Metros Fare Media products and programs including their history and limitations.
  • Demonstrated skill in creative and collaborative problem solving
  • Strong analytical skills and proven experience using data to make informed recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and in the ability to communicate with diverse audiences in a tactful diplomatic and sensitive manner.
  • Strong ability to understand how components fit into larger goals and objectives including how changes in one area may impact others
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build and sustain positive relationships through professional disagreements and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated skill in working effectively and making sound decisions even under stressful conditions
  • Demonstrated experience promoting fairness respect inclusiveness integrity and ethical conduct in the workplace.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and the ability to tactfully navigate sensitive topics

Desirable Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience leading complex projects from planning to completion including managing scope timeline and resources
  • Change management certification and demonstrated experience executing principles
  • Experience leading large-scale or high-profile projects within the transportation industry or within local government
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex information to a broad audience

Work Schedule
This hybrid role involves a mix of remote work and on-site responsibilities with an expectation of being in the office for meetings tasks and assignments as needed. This position is not covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is ineligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday 40-hour work week. Variations may be required depending on the demands and training needs of the work.

Work Location
This is a hybrid position. The main work site for this position is King Street Center 201 S Jackson St. Seattle WA 98104.

The team works in a hybrid model with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.

Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position is currently being performed in a hybrid fashion including teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business and operational needs. Employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

King County has a robust collection of tools andresources to support working remotely.
