Job Description:
COL is seeking a competent and detail oriented financial professional with extensive nonprofit experience and excellent communication and relationship skills to provide financial oversight to the organization. This individual reports directly to the CEO and is part of the organizations leadership team. They are responsible for managing cash flow providing financial guidance and statements to the Board of Directors at Board Meetings and overseeing various audits. They will also play a significant role in the monitoring supervision and tracking of a capital campaign and construction campaign. This individual will be a vital part or the COL management team and will supervise 1-2 staff members.
Essential Job Functions
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all aspects of financial management and will oversee the following key functions.
Income Management
Track all revenue that the organization receives including foundation grants corporation grants individual gifts government grants fee for service contracts and tax credits. This will require working collaboratively with the Development Director.
Expense Management
Track and approve all expenses and liabilities including salaries and wages employee benefits fixed costs unrestricted and restricted grants/deferred revenue and discretionary expenses. This will require working collaboratively with the Director of Development Director of Operations and Program Managers.
Cash Flow/Budget/Forecasting Management
Manage and track the organizations budget and cash flow and provide timely reports to the CEO and Board of Directors. This includes but is not limited to preparing financial statements (Including - Statement of Activities Statement of Financial Position Statement of Cash Flows Fixed Assets Budget vs. Actual etc.). Additionally the CFO will provide budget forecasts and data analysis to guide decision making for a budget that is currently $3 Million.
Compliance/Audit Management
Develop financial and audit statements that ensure the organization is in financial and regulatory compliance. This includes annual financial audit preparation and processing federal compliance with IRS (990s/BCO-10) state and local compliance e.g. business privilege tax overseeing workers compensation and compliance audit monitoring of unemployment compensation claims etc.
Capital Campaign/Construction
The CFO will play a key role in the accounting of capital contributions made as part of a multi-million dollar addition they will monitor and account for expenditures related to the construction of a $45 million dollar facility.
