About the role:
The Fleet Maintenance & Scheduling Controller is a strategic role responsible for scheduling directing and organising the maintenance and repair of FRNSW trucks specialist vehicles and equipment to ensure optimum availability and effectiveness. Youll go beyond reactive fixes to optimise asset availability and reduce downtime ensuring our fleet is always ready for action.
About you:
Youre a confident planner and leader with experience in fleet or workshop operations. You enjoy balancing schedules budgets and compliance while building a motivated team that delivers results.
Youll lead and inspire a team of up to 28 people therefore this role requires a candidate with proven strong leadership skills to guide develop and motivate a large diverse group toward success.
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead coach and develop workshop staff to build a high-performing safety-focused team that consistently delivers maintenance and servicing outcomes to the highest standard within budget and resourcing constraints.
- Proactively plan implement and continually refine scheduled maintenance programs and preventative maintenance policies to optimise appliance reliability extend asset life and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate the scheduling and prioritisation of repairs refurbishments and contractor work ensuring critical path timelines are met and resources are allocated effectively to maximise workshop throughput.
- Partner with the Fleet Operation Officers Managers Technical Support Maintenance Planner and Engineering Project Officers to align inspection testing and commissioning schedules for new appliances with operational readiness requirements.
- Monitor maintenance performance against KPIs (time cost quality and compliance) identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and process improvements across the workshop.
- Provide strong people leadership by coaching staff conducting skills assessments and implementing targeted training to build technical capability compliance awareness and career development pathways.
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement in safety by ensuring robust workplace risk assessments WHS audits and accident investigations and by developing practical Work Method Statements that minimise incidents.
- Oversee all accident mechanical electrical and body work repairs in and out of hours ensuring planned and reactive work is integrated into the maintenance schedule without compromising budget or service levels.
Essential Requirements:
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Qualifications in Automotive Maintenance with Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Licence
- Accreditation as a Roads and Maritime Heavy Vehicle Inspector
- A current HR Licence
