We have an immediate vacancy for a Cell Controller to join our Process Support Team (Reduction Line 3). Candidates with experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply for the next step in their career.

Reporting to theProcess Team Leader your role may involve:

• The Cell Controller fulfils a crucial role in the control and optimisation of the aluminium smelting process on the Reduction Lines
• Through building and maintaining positive relationships the Cell Controller assists the leadership team in achieving operational and process metrics
• The Cell Controller needs to have both a short (shift) and medium (monthly) term vision of the process and should be able to translate process indicators into workable solutions for process issues in conjunction with Process Leaders and Process Engineers
• The Cell Controller needs to maintain strong working relationships with Process Leaders Process Engineers and operational staff to keep the flow of information consistent and concise
• Great communication skills are required to transfer your knowledge base through coaching and mentoring other team members

What youll bring

• At least 2 years experience working on the reduction lines which should include relief Cell Controller work
• Must be a self-motivated and highly energetic person that strives towards continuous improvement
• Detailed knowledge of the aluminium reduction process including process theory
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work independently and in a team setting
• Proficiency in computer software such as MS office
• Able to read and interpret graphs and process trends
• Good problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Reduction Tools
• Detailed knowledge of CCS

Where youll be working

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australias second largest aluminium smelter with a 1000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast BSL produces around 500000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
