Job Summary
This corporate income tax manager is responsible for managing a team of tax professionals and processes associated with the income taxes of Vistra Corp and its subsidiaries and affiliates. The role involves regular interaction directly with business leaders in power generation retail electric sales and finance. This direct entry exempt position requires a working knowledge of tax concepts practices and procedures and specialized knowledge of state and federal income tax laws..
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Review of quarterly and annual provision for ASC 740 calculations and reporting including the rate reconciliation income tax footnote and underlying calculations.
- Identification and documenting of tax return positions
- Analyzing complex accounting transactions to ensure appropriate tax treatment
- Managing the quarterly and annual provision process and responding to questions and inquiries from the financial statement auditors
- Review federal tax returns and work papers for a complex group of legal entities including estimated payments and extensions
- Analyzing and reviewing financial statements and other financial data specifically as they relate to tax compliance and tax planning
- Performing technical tax research using electronic research services and generating documentation to support tax return filing positions and refund claims
- Assisting the federal tax controversy team in responding to information document requests and analyzing data for Uncertain Tax Position purposes
- Providing outstanding client service through responsiveness to questions and requests by the business units including interaction with staff and departments throughout the organization
Education Experience & Skill Requirements
- Experienced gained through college degree programs and or certifications in Accounting or related field.
- 5 years relevant experience and Big 4 accounting firm experience is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and tax requirements and the underlying policy practices and procedures of public companies
- Large multistate corporate tax experience preferred
- CPA and Masters in Tax a plus

- Perform and deliver on key accountabilities by enabling top performance by the tax team operating the Companys income taxes creating a collaborative tax opportunistic and growth oriented professional environment.
- Responsible for meeting quarterly income tax reporting deadlines and delivering timely federal compliance & payments
- Proactively supporting Tax Director developing strategy and objectives for the group
- Active relationship builder with Company leaders measured by their feedback on performance.
