What is the Opportunity
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on theDarlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP)in Clarington Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Staying at the forefront of welding technology is key to ensuring that Aecon welding activities maintain the high level of quality that is required in the nuclear industry. Additionally ensuring that Aecon leverages the latest available technologies to remain competitive in the marketplace will provide further confidence and opportunities for future business development. The welding center of excellence is a self-managed department which operates as a dedicated body within Aecon to be able to provide internal welding services to Aecon as well as contract services to external customers.
