Competency-Based Minimum Qualifications Instructions
This job class uses competency-based minimum qualifications.Please ensure your application(through work history volunteer experience (duties summary) training education licenses certifications etc.) supports how you have gained the knowledge skills abilities and behaviors (competencies) and that you possess the minimum required competencies for the job class.
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
Any combination of education certification and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
equivalent to those typically gained by:
Completion of a post-secondary education program in nursing public health healthcare services healthcare administration or a closely related field
AND progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes responsibility in health care public health health care delivery systems nursing administration consultative nursing and/or teaching capacity that is relevant to the positions area of nursing specialty.
Special Note
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite knowledge skills and abilities may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
Some positions require eligibility for specific professional certifications in a specialty field or licensure in the State of Alaska such as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Most positions require expertise in a health specialty field; recruitment and selection for these positions will be from among only those candidates who have the appropriate specialty background and experience.
The essential functions of some positions may involve exposure to infectious disease and/or biohazards. Some positions require travel to remote areas on short notice in small aircraft or boats.
Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.
