What You Will Be Doing:
As a Nurse Consultant 1 your role will involve inspecting various health facilities across the state to assess whether they comply with state and federal standards. Additionally you will investigate complaints related to health facilities and agencies that are licensed or certified under our program. The primary aim of these inspections is to evaluate a healthcare providers capability to deliver safe and acceptable services.

Who We Are Looking For:
  • Nursing:Knowledge of the principles methodologies practices and procedures of professional nursing as they pertain to health promotion and the treatment and prevention of diseases injuries and/or abnormalities.
  • Oral and Written Communication:Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.
  • Investigation:Knowledge of the guidelines regulations and procedures associated with investigation including interviewing evidence detection locating gathering and handling and drawing appropriate factual inferences and conclusions. Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
Any combination of education certification and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

equivalent to those typically gained by:

Completion of a post-secondary education program in nursing public health healthcare services healthcare administration or a closely related field
AND progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes responsibility in health care public health health care delivery systems nursing administration consultative nursing and/or teaching capacity that is relevant to the positions area of nursing specialty.

Special Note
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite knowledge skills and abilities may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Some positions require eligibility for specific professional certifications in a specialty field or licensure in the State of Alaska such as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
