The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Management Preference:

Preference given to candidates that have a BSN and 5 years of related experience due to New Nurse Orientation and CNEs per NC Board of Nursing.

• Demonstrates expert knowledge in medical surgical and mental health nursing practices including physical assessments clinical judgment and medication management.
• Designs and delivers comprehensive training programs using adult learning principles including orientation skills check-offs and competency development.
• Collaborates effectively with facility leadership healthcare professionals and external partners to coordinate educational initiatives and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Communicates complex healthcare information clearly and professionally through verbal presentations written materials and audiovisual tools.
• Maintains flexibility and independence in managing multiple projects meeting deadlines and adapting to evolving healthcare needs within the prison system.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

    Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
