VMS Fleet Compliance Officer

Fixed Term Contract - Until March 2026 (potential to be extended)

Grade

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Are you passionate about ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence in fleet management Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated VMS Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Vehicle Maintenance Service (VMS). This is a pivotal role focused on maintaining legal fleet compliance auditing operational processes and driving continuous improvement across our vehicle management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance tax licensing and inspections.
  • Audit driver compliance including CPC licensing tacho use and safety standards.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track operational performance.
  • Deliver targeted training sessions on compliance standards and procedures.
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Stay up to date with legislative changes and update policies accordingly.


What Were Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in auditing transport management or compliance (e.g. CPC).
  • Proven experience in fleet compliance auditing or similar roles.
  • Experience conducting operational audits and reporting findings.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and monitor KPIs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in auditing and performance monitoring tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
