Introduction
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) is one of the countrys leading museums of American art. The collection includes significant holdings of nineteenth-century American landscape painting and Beaux Arts painting and sculpture great depth in the work of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell excellent examples of twentieth-century American modernism and deep holdings of works on paper from the nineteenth century through the present day. Recent acquisitions include works by Ruth Asawa Cecilia Beaux Esther Hernandez Edmonia Lewis Norman Lewis Thomas Moran Henry Ossawa Tanner and Benjamin West as well as an unpublished archive of John Kensett works on paper. The Museums Archives and Library offer rich resources for research and exhibition possibilities.
Position Description
The Manager of Institutional Giving is responsible for working with the Director of Development on the annual advancement strategy to support the Museums mission and long-term sustainability. The manager will be the primary relationship manager for foundation corporate and government funders and sponsorships initiating new contacts and stewarding existing ones. The ideal candidate will have experience developing strategies for funder cultivation and will lead funder engagement outreach proposal development and submission and stewardship (including acknowledgements and reporting) for all institutional partners.
Responsibilities
- Works with the entire development department as a team member and facilitates cohesive implementation of all strategies.
- Works with the Director of Development and Individual Giving Manager to develop prospect action plans for major gift and corporate prospects.
- Assists with all Circle member events Ambassador Council events and meetings Carter Society events and Family Member events to include early planning and development to post-event follow up. Works with other museum departments to plan and implement signature large-scale museum events (eg. Circle Dinner Carter Society events).
- Works closely with the museums curatorial department to successfully grow participation in Collector events.Works with staff to create a strategy for and oversee special events aligning them with strategic priorities and increasing revenue.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate partners exploring opportunities for sponsorships matching gifts and in-kind support.
- Assist with the development and production of collateral materials including digital collateral pitch decks fundraising one-pagers and executive communications with major funders.
- Plan and execute targeted grant writing campaigns and reporting to institutional funders.
- Maintain confidentiality of museum and donor information.
- Other duties as requested.

Skills and Requirements
- Previous museum experience
- NXT experience preferred
- Experience with budget development and management
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills; proficient in composition spelling punctuation and grammar. Successful communication with a wide range of internal constituents including Board members senior management program staff finance staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to meet ambitious fundraising targets and develop creative strategies for current new and capital support needs.
- Ability to adapt writing styles to fit audience and voice of the piece; Ability to quickly and effectively gather information through interviews research etc.
- Ability to nurture ongoing funder relationships to ensure retention year by year.
Key Characteristics/Traits
- Strong interpersonal skills particularly in relationship-building membership fulfillment program creation special events and promotions.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively.
- Proven strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills required to deal with a wide variety of constituents.
- Collaborative: establishes strong working relations and promotes productive cooperation.
- Curious and creative in identifying possible new funders and avenues of support.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Education
- B. A. or B.S. degree arts administration nonprofit management or related field preferred.
- proven experience in non-profit and development fields
- 3 - 5 years of experience in non-profit development work required
Other Job Requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of all museum information and records.
- Some evening/weekend work required.
- Must successfully complete the required post offer MVR background check and drug screen.
- Requires ability to lift and transport materials and packages up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods operate standard office equipment and navigate Museum facilities.
- Smart phone required.
