Job Summary

United Staff Group is seeking a dedicated and qualified School Nurse to provide comprehensive health services to our students and staff. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in promoting a healthy and safe school environment that supports student well-being and academic success. This is a full-time/part-time position for the current/upcoming school year and it requires a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School Nurse SummaryThe School Nurse serves as the primary health care provider within the school setting. This role involves providing direct nursing care managing the health needs of students with chronic conditions and implementing and enforcing school and state health policies. The School Nurse is a vital member of the school team collaborating with students families educators and community healthcare ResponsibilitiesProvide Direct Patient Care: Administer first aid emergency care and prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and state Student Health: Develop implement and monitor Individualized Health Plans (IHPs) for students with chronic conditions such as asthma diabetes or severe Health Screenings: Perform and document state-mandated health screenings for vision hearing and postural deviations (scoliosis).Maintain Health Records: Ensure all student health records including immunization and physical exam records are accurate and confidential adhering to state laws and HIPAA/FERPA Preparedness: Respond to medical emergencies and participate in the development and implementation of the schools emergency response plan. Train school personnel in first aid CPR and the administration of epinephrine and other emergency Education & Promotion: Serve as a health resource for students staff and families providing education on topics like hygiene nutrition disease prevention and Health: Oversee the prevention and control of communicable diseases within the school community and report health data as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the schools Student Support team to ensure students with health needs are appropriately supported in the educational : Must hold a valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) : A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) or a Masters degree in Nursing is License: Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts DESE Initial School Nurse License. This requires a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills test (MTEL) and completion of an orientation program approved by the Department of Public : A minimum of two full years of employment as a Registered Nurse in a relevant school setting is : Strong clinical assessment skills excellent communication and organizational abilities and a compassionate student-centered approach. Knowledge of MA-specific health laws and regulations (e.g. 105 CMR 210.000 for medication administration).
