Job Summary

The Department of Event Management Dining and Hospitality is one of 15 departments within the Division of Student Affairs. It provides the campus community and guests with high-quality efficient and innovative event services and dining options in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.

The Customer Service Assistant serves as the main point of contact for the EMDH employment office handling a wide range of inquiries and providing customer support both in person and remotely. The position involves resolving complex issues related to student employment from the application process to scheduling and onboarding. This position assists with student employment coordination including managing schedules and records leading orientations and training student staff. They also track applicants and help oversee disciplinary and feedback programs. Additionally this position helps lead a team of student personnel assistants and provides administrative support to the employment team.

$15.18 - $17.85 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:
A. college coursework in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
-Associates Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
-90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
-Bachelors degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. responsible work experience in customer services public relations office administration business and financial operations healthcare administration or other closely related experience

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with student employment
2. Ability to prioritize and manage work details and deadlines
3. Ability to navigate clerical and office environment
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality
7. Ability to manage details and deadlines

Work Hours

8:00 am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
