VMS Fleet Officer

Fixed Term Contract - Until March 2026 (potential to be extended)

Grade

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Are you organised detail-oriented and passionate about keeping things running smoothly

Birmingham City Council is looking for three VMS Fleet Officers to support the day-to-day operations of our fleet. Youll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are compliant well-maintained and efficiently managed.
Working closely with the VMS Administration Manager and other team members youll help keep our fleet safe legal and operational - supporting services that make a real difference across the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records for vehicle tax MOTs insurance and licences.
  • Monitor servicing schedules and coordinate maintenance and tyre replacements.
  • Assist with vehicle hire arrangements and insurance claims.
  • Input and manage fleet data including fuel usage and mileage.
  • Prepare reports to support operational decision-making.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external providers to resolve issues and ensure service continuity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around safety sustainability and cost-efficiency.

What Were Looking For

  • Proficiency in IT systems including fleet management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in fleet operations transport or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
