Job Description - Regional Technology Specialist I

Title: Regional Technology Specialist I

Supervised by: Director of Technology

Work Year:230 Days or asAssigned by Superintendent

Wage: $25.48 - $33.53 per hour

Position Purpose:

The Regional Technology Specialist I is responsible for providing technical support to users solving issues with both hardware and software setting up or removing computers from the network and troubleshooting and solving basic networking issues. Other areas of responsibility include: basic printer support basic telephone support helpdesk support etc.

Core Job Functions:

  • Deliver qualified technical support on a daily basis using the available resources.
  • Installs modifies and makes minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems.
  • Assist in maintaining basic internet access and workstation connectivity.
  • Install maintain repair and upgrade desktop computers laptops Chromebooks and other hardware in schools and at the CGESD. May include assisting with workstation setup loading applications or system software and peripheral equipment support.
  • Assist in the implementation of regional/district technology vision plans and goals.
  • Participate in select technical training workshops to continue improving skills.
  • Test repaired systems to ensure operational quality before placement.
  • Train customers in the general use and capabilities of their workstation and peripheral devices.
  • Use multiple resources (i.e. technical books and manuals web sources etc) to resolve problems.
  • Attend department and other staff meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the agency.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid drivers license and available insured vehicle.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to physically perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to diagnose both hardware and software needs for help desk.
  • Ability to install and configure software hardware components and peripherals.
  • Complies with rules statutes policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees using tact courtesy and good judgment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with vendors customers and other support technicians regarding

computer hardware data communications and other workstation related problems.

  • Participates and takes ownership of professional growth and development.
  • Ability to analyze trouble-shoot and solve technical problems.
  • The ability to effectively manage several ongoing projects at one time.
  • Work well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focus on solving conflicts by listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others ideas; and

  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Must pass criminal records and fingerprinting check to be eligible for position.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or other post-secondary education and/or training preferred.
  • One year professional experience preferred with workstation related support which would provide the skills knowledge and abilities required to perform the core job functions.
  • Other alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the core functions of this job. The work is performed in a variety of locations which involves driving/travel; usual indoor conditions (i.e. sitting walking and climbing stairs). Must have the ability to repetitively lift and move moderate to heavy weight equipment/boxes (30-60 lbs.) and the ability to use hand/eye coordination in an efficient manner to support the operation and set-up of computers and related equipment.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Columbia Gorge ESD Board policy on evaluation.

Terms of Employment:

Number of days per year as per negotiated agreement.
