Are you a service-oriented team player with a passion for microscopy Join the dynamic and interdisciplinary bioimaging team at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) - an internationally renowned research institute at the forefront of fundamental and translational cancer research. The NKI provides a stimulating scientific environment cutting edge technology platforms and close interactions between clinicians and researchers.
As part of our facility team you will be the go-to expert for microscopy and imaging. Your work will span technical support training and general facility operations:
Coordinate imaging-related administrative tasks including handling project requests and reservations in our facility management system and image data in accordance with institutional policies;
Perform preventive maintenance and quality control of microscopy systems; coordinate with suppliers and service engineers;
Advise researchers on experimental design sample preparation and microscopy techniques;
Train users to operate microscopes independently and troubleshoot imaging issues;
Organize regular facility introduction courses contributing to PhD-level graduate school courses and assisting in image analysis workshops (e.g. Fiji);
Support image visualization/processing & basic analysis providing access to tools like Fiji ZEN QuPath Imaris and Python-based workflows;
Contribute to innovation staying current with imaging trends and develop new workflows.
The BioImaging Facility contributes to state of the art research by offering infrastructure knowledge and training for image acquisition and analysis using advanced microscopy and software tools. We provide access to a diverse collection of high-end imaging systems including wide field and confocal microscopes as well as multiplex imaging. As core member of the BioImaging facility you will be involved in all our ongoing activities and play a pivotal role in developing and implementing innovative imaging workflows that contribute directly to high-impact cancer research.
We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a collaborative spirit:
Experienced in light microscopy ideally at PhD level or equivalent.
Passionate about microscopy and eager to keep learning.
Enthusiastic about teaching and training researchers in microscopy techniques
Organized detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple tasks.
Service-minded and committed to maintaining high facility standards.
Experience with image processing and analysis software (e.g. Fiji ZEN QuPath Imaris Python) is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal.
Comfortable working in a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment
The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the CLA Hospitals. You will receive from us:
A temporary contract for a period of one year with possibility of extension for 32 or 36 hours per week;
A gross monthly salary between 3.329- and 5.289- based on a 36-hour working week in line with the scale FWG50 or FWG55 depending on your experience;
144 holiday hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Budget with full-time employment;
Annual holiday pay of 8.33% and a fixed end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;
A travel allowance of 0.23 per km;
Free parking at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. And with our bicycle plan and discount on public transport we also make it attractive for you to leave the car at home;
