Job Summary

Job Title: Interpreter Mentor Project Mentor

FLSA Status: Temporary Part-Time

Pay Grade: $100/hour 4 8 hour/month

Work Days: October 2025 June 2026

Reports To: Special Programs Coordinator or Designee

Primary Purpose

To mentor uncertified educational sign language interpreters as they prepare to take the Board of Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Interpreter Certification Test.

Education/Certification

BEI Sign Language Interpreter Certification Advanced or Master Level

Special Knowledge/Skills

Advanced or master level sign language interpreting skills as determined by the Board of Evaluation of Interpreters

Experience

Sign language interpreting in an educational setting
Experience mentoring preferred

**This position may be partially or completely funded using grant and/or federal monies and is assigned programs to include activities designed to enhance the effective and coordinated use of funds.

Provide coaching modeling and feedback to project participants about the participants sign language interpreting skills
Conduct one-hour meetings with each assigned participant twice monthly
Post individualized assignments in a designated online platform at least twice monthly
Provide individualized feedback on assignments submitted through the designated online platform
Schedule one-on-one virtual sessions with project participants as needed
Meet virtually with the SESS Grant Facilitator as needed
Submit all required paperwork including timesheets and activity tracking by designated due dates

Equipment/Specialized Software Used

Computers projection devices control panels in meeting rooms printers productivity software software specific to the job assignment network resources internet resources and other hardware and software necessary to perform the functions of the job effectively and efficiently.

Evaluation

Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance need and funding.
