  • Overtime available
  • Open shifts: Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING

CHI is looking for a full-time Child Care Worker for our Smithtown location. You will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to care for young children. You will ensure the development and safety of the children in accordance with relevant federal and state policies. The ideal applicant is respectful of children and parents and will ensure that equipment and facilities are clean safe and well maintained. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:

  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical emotional intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
  • Provide nutritious snacks and lunches
  • Develop excellent activities experiences and programs that are culturally appropriate
  • Ensure equipment and the facility are clean well maintained and safe
  • Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities
  • Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Ensure supervision at all times
  • Create experiences and activities for children including songs games and story telling
  • Provide opportunities for sleep and rest time
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
  • Implement positive discipline when required
  • Keep parents informed of program expectations program activities and their childs progress

WHAT DO I NEED

  • Education: High SchoolDiploma or GED. Experience in a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Knowledge of community resources required. One to two years experience in the childcare or a related field preferred.
  • Certificates or Licenses: Valid drivers license.
  • Insurance: Valid automobile insurance.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Word Excel internet and other software as required.
  • Math Skills: Must be excellent.
  • Physical Performance: Ability to tour property walk distances and climb stairs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize make judgment calls and make appropriate decisions.
  • Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved homeless and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team be highly organized work well under pressure meet deadlines multitask be flexible and maintain a high level of attention to details. Ability to develop plan and implement activities.
  • Other Requirements: Must have reliable transportation.
