Custodian

Rate of Pay:

• $20.00 per hour

Job Terms:

• Full time - Year around
• May require occasional weekends for events
• Second Shift; Monday-Friday 3:00PM - 11:00PM (Flexable in the summer)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks (standing bending climbing ladders).

• Knowledge of cleaning supplies equipment and proper chemical handling.

• Strong work ethic reliability and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• General Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Sweep mop vacuum strip wax and buff floors.

  • Dust wash and sanitize surfaces including desks counters windows and doors.

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock supplies such as soap paper towels and toilet paper.

  • Empty wastebaskets recycling bins and outdoor trash receptacles.

• Building & Facility Maintenance

  • Monitor building systems and report repair needs to supervisors.

  • Assist with minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs tightening screws and unclogging drains.

  • Set up and move furniture equipment and supplies for classrooms meetings or special events.

  • Perform seasonal tasks such as shoveling snow spreading salt or clearing entryways.

• Safety & Security

  • Ensure doors and windows are secured at the end of each shift.

  • Monitor facilities for safety hazards and take appropriate action.

  • Follow safety guidelines for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • Maintain compliance with health safety and sanitation regulations.

• Teamwork & Support

  • Work cooperatively with staff administrators and contractors.

  • Respond to cleaning or emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.

  • Assist with school or organizational events ensuring areas are prepared and restored after use.
