Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Regional Chief Engineer (CE) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS. Specifically this team works to ensure the safe and secure operation of the data centers Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to provide 99.999% availability for our this specific case High Voltage Sub-Station (HVSS) experience is at a premium given the infrastructure layout of the PHX region.

The Regional CE is responsible for ensuring that all MEP equipment within the region is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment daily corrective work and emergency response. The Regional CE serves as an expert technical resource interacting with on-site Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) CEs Facility Managers (FM) and third party vendors.

The Regional CE also manages medium-to-large projects and programs from conception to completion. These projects and programs involve large amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering automation processing and finance in both local and global settings. The goals of such projects are for the Regional CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.


Key job responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center to include HVSS
- Operate independently with limited direct management
- Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the region
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Create and deploy new standard practices for EOTs CEs and vendor support teams
- Provide training and guidance to EOTs CEs and FMs
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
- Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
- Work cross-functionally across teams to effect cluster-wide performance improvement with our internal and external partners by designing and implementing processes metrics and programs that enhance the end to end employee experience
- Collaborate effectively across teams to define strategy goals and obtain commitment to timelines and deliverables

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration development and into deployment or mass production
- Experience in MS Excel Word and Windows Operating Systems

- Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
