Job Description

Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI ESG Research is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Sustainable Investment Models team which develops methodologies and frameworks to quantify sustainability risks and this role you will advance MSCIs sustainable investment frameworks by designing innovative methodologies enhancing existing models and supporting the development of new products and datasets.

You will also design and implement rules that define how sustainability assessments are propagated from parent companies to subsidiaries. Your work will play a vital role in enabling accurate reporting strengthening client confidence and supporting regulatory compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine MSCIs sustainability methodologies and models for corporates collaborating with industry experts.
  • Design new analytical frameworks for emerging sustainability themes (e.g. climate change human capital) and alternative asset classes such as private markets.
  • Define and maintain the logic that controls how sustainability data is propagated from one entity to another in the same corporate structure.
  • Apply statistical methods and programming (Python Excel) to analyze interpret and visualize data generating insights for model enhancements.
  • Implement test and document computations used in scoring models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Data Application Development Product) to deliver robust solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 35 years of professional experience in quantitative research company analysis or data science.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and software development particularly Python are a must-have. Familiarity with AI/ML techniques would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with entity resolution and data modeling across corporate or public-sector structures.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (Finance Sustainability Statistics Engineering Business) or CFA designation preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to solve data quality challenges with creative solutions including use of alternative/unstructured data.
  • Knowledge of sustainability factors and company fundamentals is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural geographically distributed team.
