Job Overview:

The Supplier Manager will be responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with critical suppliers to maximize value for the business. This role focuses on category strategy development supplier performance improvement risk management and cost optimization. The Supplier Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement operations engineering and quality to drive supplier innovation ensure material availability and secure competitive pricing and terms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost quality innovation and supply risk for critical supplier categories.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships acting as the primary point of contact for key suppliers and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed metrics (cost quality delivery responsiveness) and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier-related risks including capacity constraints financial stability and geopolitical risks.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives by leveraging supplier relationships benchmarking and negotiation strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering operations and quality teams to align supplier capabilities with product and project requirements.
  • Facilitate supplier development programs encouraging innovation process improvements and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support supplier selection qualification and onboarding for new programs or critical components.
  • Prepare reports dashboards and analysis to provide leadership visibility into supplier performance risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-functional S&OP or strategic sourcing initiatives to align supplier performance with company objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in supplier management strategic sourcing or category management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing relationships with critical suppliers and driving performance improvements.
  • Strong negotiation analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems supplier performance tools and data analysis (Excel Power BI or similar).

Preferred:

  • Experience in electrical electronics or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage electrical components or assemblies.
  • APICS/CSCP or other supply chain certifications.
  • Experience implementing supplier innovation programs and cost reduction initiatives.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally walk through manufacturing or warehouse areas.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 20 lbs.
Comfort using PPE (safety glasses steel-toe shoes) when visiting production areas.
