Department: Distribution Centers
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor or Lead
Essential Function
This job is responsible for all clerical functions related to the shipping department including those related to staffing and dock space reporting and any other shipping tasks. A Shipper 2 must be able to complete several areas shipping and outbound processes. This job is a combination of maintaining individual productivity requirement but will support department on a specialist and training level as needed.
Primary Duties
May operate hand truck to move convey or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
May direct others in preparing outgoing shipments. Ensures all shipments are sent according to store specifications and on predetermined time schedules.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Effectively communicates with internal and external contacts ensuring that issues are resolved.
May perform only shipping activities and be known as Shipping Clerk or Receiving Clerk on an as needed basis.
Maintains a safe work environment performs job functions safely and reports any potential job hazards to management including maintaining good housekeeping practices.
Maintains productivity related to standards based on assigned task.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least 2 years in a distribution/warehouse environment or equivalent work experience including the operation of heavy equipment
Must know and be able to perform job by following the Standard Operating Procedures
Moderate to advanced computer skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the capability to adjust to change and interruptions
Ability to work with limited supervision
Must be able to become certified through the Sally Beauty Lift Truck Training Program in order to efficiently and safely operate a forklift within the time frame specified by management
Competencies / Attributes
Must be able to maintain neat and accurate records
Must be skilled in basic arithmetic and have ability to read and interpret orders product description and/or numbers in the English language
Detail-oriented
Operates all lift equipment in a safe manner to ensure personal protection and safety of other personnel and company property
