This exciting position plays a vital role in enhancing the Unified Judicial Systems judicial security initiatives. Reporting to the Judicial District Security Director at the AOPC youll collaborate with judges judicial staff consultants and government officials to create a safe environment for court facilities. Your professional and technical expertise will be essential in ensuring the safety of everyone who works in or visits these important spaces making a real difference in our judicial community.
Job Duties
Assists in responding to court security incidents reported to the Judicial District Security office via the Pennsylvania Judicial Incident Reporting System (PAJIRS). This includes reviewing and evaluating incidents identifying appropriate security protocols and protective measures and communicating with law enforcement.
Helps develop implement and deliver comprehensive security programs to enhance safety and security awareness throughout the judiciary.
Engages in training and professional development to improve knowledge of security the judiciary and other current trends in the security field.
Assists with security assessments of court facilities and conducts meetings with judges sheriffs and other local officials as well as court staff to produce reports on findings and recommendations.
Advises judges court staff and local court security personnel on implementing the Rules of Judicial Administration regarding emergency preparedness continuity of operations and judicial safety and security.
Demonstrates the ability to be agile in organizational tasks while effectively multitasking and prioritizing urgent and emergent matters.
Able to remain calm in rapidly developing situations or crises. Skilled in effective communication with first responders.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in criminal justice or an IT-related major; AND
Three years of experience in professional analytical work.
An equivalent combination of education experience and/or training may be considered.
Additional Requirements / Preferences
Highly proficient with computer-based technology required.
Proficient in database management preferred.
Masters degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Access Excel PowerPoint and Word is required.
Proficiency in Webex Zoom Microsoft Teams RingCentral Meetings and other related virtual platforms is required.
Valid drivers license required.
Periodic multi-day and overnight statewide travel required.
Valid ASIS Physical Security Professional Professional Certified Investigator or Certified Protection Professional certification or ability to attain the certification within 3 years required.
Valid First/Aid/CPR certification or ability to attain certification is required.
Act 235 or Lethal Weapons training certification preferred.
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
