The WATCHMAN Coordinator RN is a key clinical and administrative role responsible for coordinating all aspects of the WATCHMAN and Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) program. This nurse will serve as a liaison between patients referring physicians procedural teams and hospital departments to ensure safe efficient and high-quality care for patients undergoing WATCHMAN evaluation procedure and follow-up.
Patient Coordination & Clinical Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the WATCHMAN care continuum.
- Educate patients and families about atrial fibrillation stroke risk and the WATCHMAN procedure.
- Coordinate and schedule consultations pre-procedure testing (TEE CTAs other imaging labs) procedure appointments and follow-ups.
- Contact and Monitor patients for compliance with pre- and post-procedure instructions and anticoagulation management.
- Assess patients for clinical eligibility based on established criteria.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and case reviews.
Program & Administrative Duties:
- Maintain detailed documentation and tracking of all WATCHMAN patients from referral to post-procedure follow-up in designated software platforms.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory billing and device registry requirements (e.g. NCDR LAAO Registry).
- Collaborate with electrophysiologists cardiologists EP/Cath lab anesthesia and scheduling departments to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Monitor procedure volumes outcomes and key performance metrics.
- Assist with development and maintenance of program protocols and education materials.
Quality Compliance & Education:
- Ensure adherence to national guidelines and internal protocols for WATCHMAN patient selection and care.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives audits and program growth strategies.
- Educate staff and referring providers about the WATCHMAN and LAAC program and referral process.
- Serve as a resource for internal staff and community outreach as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Registered Nurse (RN) required; BSN preferred.
Licensure:
- Current RN license in Colorado.
- BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association with cards in-hand before start date.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiology electrophysiology or procedural coordination preferred.
- Familiarity with atrial fibrillation management and cardiac device procedures a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent clinical assessment and patient education skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office setting with some time in procedural or hospital areas.
- May require occasional evening or early morning coordination based on procedure schedules.
- Minimal travel for outreach or educational activities.
