Job Summary
PowerNet is seeking an experienced Operations Technology Engineer to join our team in Invercargill. This is a dynamic role supporting the design implementation and management of Operations Technology systems across our electricity networks.

About the Role
Youll provide engineering and technical support across a range of systems including smart meter mesh networks SCADA communications OT network infrastructure and radio telephone systems. Youll be involved in fault analysis network optimisation hardware configuration and project delivery all while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage smart meter mesh networks and DA radios
- Configure and troubleshoot OT network routing firewalls and traffic control
- Manage SCADA communications (fibre microwave radio) and network security
- Oversee Crosswire RT dispatch systems and vehicle radio setups
- Support TCP/IP communications for new substations and RF projects
- Maintain system documentation and train field staff on network operations
- Liaise with customers and partner networks to resolve technical issues
What Youll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in IT telecommunications electrical/electronics or computer science or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in IT/OT environments
- Strong understanding of communication protocols cyber security and converging technologies
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ISR/ASR routers VLANs QoS OSPF/RIP and WAN connectivity
- Proficiency in Wireshark network debugging and scripting (Python C# Bash Powershell)
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps git Jira and RF network design
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships
