Cattle Clerk / Office Assistant Ward Feed Yard Larned KS
Ward Feed Yard is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Cattle Clerk/Office Assistant to join our team. This vital role combines financial record-keeping and administrative support with hands-on involvement in feedyard operations. If youre eager to learn the ins and outs of feedyard management while contributing to a smooth-running office this is the job for you.
What youll do:
- Answer phone calls and assist customers vendors and team members with professionalism and a helpful attitude
- Support daily cattle accounting tasks including maintaining accurate records and reconciling transactions
- Manage office procedures such as filing information organization supply requisitions and general clerical duties
- Maintain lot folders and update customer information to ensure data accuracy
- Prepare and distribute bi-monthly feed bills
- Assist with accounts receivable and payable processes
- Provide operational support to the management team as needed
- Help with audits and financial analyses to maintain compliance and accuracy
What were looking for:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associates or bachelors degree in accounting agriculture or related fields is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word and accounting software; experience with livestock or commodity accounting systems is a plus
- Clear and friendly communication skills with a professional demeanor in every interaction
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving mindset and adaptability to new technology and processes
- A willingness to learn and grow within the role and the company
Work environment: This position is office-based within a feedlot setting. Expect to spend extended periods working at a computer managing calls and collaborating with colleagues in a dynamic environment.
