More about our team

This role works in our busy 16-bay emergency department with patient ratios of 1:4 and 1:6 in our fast-track area. We fun as a level 3 trauma center (stabilize and transport) and see approximately 60-70 patients/day with 3-6 admits on average per day. There are approximately 30 direct reports and a manager within the unit and staffing typically includes a collaborative team 2f 2-4 RNs 1 AEMT 1 PA and 1 physician per 12-hour shift.

How youll contribute

A Director of Emergency Services who excels in this role:

  • Assess a variety of complex situations and determines the most effective means to resolve situations.
  • Uses leadership skills in decision making problem solving and interpersonal relations when working with department directors physicians staff visitors and vendors.
  • Sets the climate for cooperation between co-workers and shifts for a smooth-running operation. Requires judgment/action that could impact the patients outcome.
  • This is a working-director position. Must be able to jump in as a nurse and take care of patients as required by business needs.
  • Develops and implements departmental goals plans and standards consistent with the clinical administrative legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations including patient care delivery information technologies service level determination and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring orienting evaluating disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares monitors and evaluates departmental budgets and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelors degree. Additional requirements include:

  • Experience: at least 3 years of previous leadership experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
  • American Heart Association Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire.
