General Description:

The Digital Learning/IT Technician provides school-based support by assisting administrators educators students and the Watertown Public Schools community with the use and integration of technology throughout the district. The Digital Learning/IT Technician position reports to the Digital Learning and Libraries Coordinator and collaborates with principals information technology (IT) staff the Grade 6-12 Digital Learning Support Specialist and in the use of district technology devices and online resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively train and support staff and students in the use of educational technology resources
  • Monitor and assist students in the library or other locations as needed
  • Participate in the development and delivery of technology training (i.e. Google suite PowerSchool devices and educational apps) under the tutelage of the Digital Learning and Libraries Coordinator
  • Manage and support the inventory deployment and collection of equipment and devices under the direction of the principal and IT Manager
  • Assist staff and students during computer-based assessments including i-Ready MCAS and ACCESS
  • Support programming in the library and the Maker Space; organize space maintain equipment inventory supplies and related tasks
  • Model and reinforce ethical behavior skills proficiency and responsible use of online and educational technology resources
  • Troubleshoot school-based hardware and software problems and escalate issues to appropriate IT personnel
  • Work with IT and Digital Learning/Library staff to respond to tickets submitted through the help desk and document work performed
  • Maintain and advance the knowledge of digital learning resources and educational technologies to support teaching and learning
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Citizenship residency or work visa required
  • Demonstrated ability to inclusively engage and support all students
  • Evidence of ability to work positively and collaboratively on a team
  • Familiarity with digital learning best practices
  • Interest in continuous professional learning
  • Ability to model instruction or training when needed
  • Ability to take initiative and be accountable for task completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Demands:

  • The Digital Learning/IT Technician must be able to regularly sit stand walk bend and reach with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to operate and troubleshoot computers interactive displays hand-held learning devices and other technology equipment. The technician must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds including computers printers and other hardware. This role may also involve periods of standing or walking while assisting staff and students as well as the ability to move between classrooms and offices throughout the school day.
